Adobe Systems has released an emergency security update to fix 17 vulnerabilities in its Reader and Acrobat applications, including two critical bugs that are being exploited by hackers in the wild.
The vulnerabilities were first reported by Adobe on 4 June, along with another critical vulnerability in its Flash player, which was patched within a few days.

Users of Google Chrome on Linux, Mac and Windows machines were automatically upgraded Thursday to a new browser version that addresses several security bugs and features a fully integrated Flash multimedia player for the first time. Google Vice President of Engineering Linus Upson believes browser users will benefit in several different ways from Chrome’s integration of Adobe Systems’ Flash technology for the web.

Google has remotely removed two free apps from several hundred Android phones because the apps misrepresented their purpose and thus violated Android developer policies, according to a company spokesman.
This marks the first time Google has used the Remote Application Removal Feature that allows the company to delete apps for security reasons that have been installed through Android Market.

Canonical is preparing a version of the Ubuntu OS for tablet computers as the company looks to extend its presence in the mobile world.
Canonical tablets with the Ubuntu OS are projected to be available in early 2011; there has been no information on any of the OEM hardware that Canonical will be using.

Microsoft has released information that a service pack will be coming both to Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008, this was announced yesterday at the TechEd conference in New Orleans.
The up-coming service pack is planned to have tweaks to security, performance, and reliability for the eight-month-old Windows 7, including boosts for Remote Desktop Services and for Hyper-V, Microsoft’s virtualization platform.
