Independent research suggests that Bing has cornered 12.7% of the market in the 12 months since it launched.
However Google has 62.6% and Yahoo 18.9%, according to figures from ComScore.
At a Microsoft summit to discuss Bing’s progress, the search engine’s executives admitted that there was “a long road ahead” for the site.

Microsoft is working on pushing the Bing algorithm into Yahoo search, and hopes to be completed sometime in Q4 this year.
Under their partnership, Microsoft and Yahoo plan to join forces to go after Google’s dominating share of the search market. The deal got regulatory approval from both the United States and Europe in February, and Microsoft has started funneling cash to Yahooas things spin up.

Google has yet again made improvements to their website; from today, you will be seeing Google’s search page background image changing and rotating through a list of stock photography.
The move comes after Google announced last week you could add custom backgrounds to your Google home page, using snaps from your hard drive, or Picasa web album. Just hit up the ‘change background image’ button in the bottom lefthand corner, after signing in with your Google account.

Google announced on Tuesday a new type of website indexing called Caffeine which will bring in 50% more “fresher” results than the current indexing system in use by allowing the user to view posted content from blogs, forums, and some social networking sites much quicker.
Google doesn’t say whether the new indexing system is currently in full effect, just that it’s completed and ready – I guess only time will tell.
