Apple iPad data breach

Apple has suffered another embarrassment. A security breach has exposed iPad owners including dozens of CEOs, military officials, and top politicians. They—and every other buyer of the cellular-enabled tablet—could be vulnerable to spam marketing and malicious hacking.
The security breach has potentially exposed the details of thousands of senior military officers, political advisers, media executives and powerful businessmen who own an Apple iPad, leaving them vulnerable to spam marketing and malicious hacking, according to technology industry website Gawker.

Apple to launch Safari 5 browser at WWDC

The Safari web browser is the main web browser for the Apple Mac operating systems and the iPhone/iPad OS. Apple is set to announce the next version of Safari at the World Wide Developer Conference which starts today, June 7th 2010.
The next version of the browser is rumoured to have better support for HTML 5 and an increase in JavaScript speed of nearly 25 per cent compared to previous releases. Also anticipated are support for Microsoft’s Bing search engine, DNS pre-fetching, a new geolocation feature called and a Safari Reader.

Flash vs. iPad – Not Anymore!..Smokescreen

A company called RevShock has been quietly working on a piece of code that may put an end to the infamous Flash/Adobe vs. iPad/Apple war. The library, called Smokescreen, is written in javascript, and is compatible with most browsers out there, including mobile Safari. Smokescreen works out of the box, without the need to install anything on the iPad.

Apple Showcases HTML5 (iPad Compatible)

Apple just published on its website an HTML5 showcase, compatible with most of its devices, including the iPad. The demos are aimed at encouraging developers to embrace the HTML5 standard instead of Flash, and most of them are nothing short of impressive.

Google to challenge the iPad?

Designs for a tablet PC running on Google Chrome have been revealed, less than a week after the launch of Apple’s iPad.
The concept designs come from the developers behind Chromium OS – the open-source project that underpins Google Chrome and not Google itself – but they give a decent indication of how a Google Tablet might measure up against the iPad.

UK newspaper The Guardian has released the latest version of its popular iPhone app, adding Twitter-sharing for the first time.
In what amounts to a fairly minor upgrade, The Guardian has added the ability to Tweet links to current stories directly from the app.  The app was launched to great acclaim in December 2009 and has been viewed as something of a ‘game-changer’ in the news apps market, not only for some slick design features but also because it was a paid download (£2.39/$2.99).
