Android 3.0 details leaked

Android 2.2 is barely out of the door, but one mobile fanatic has already got the skinny of what we can expect from the next Google OS update, due in October. Dubbed Gingerbread, or Android 3.0, it comes with stacks of awesome features, but also promises big changes from the Google.

Android 2.2 “froYo”

Google Nexus One users are already getting their hands on the update, and it’s likely to cross the pond imminently. HTC also promised that it’s HTC Desire and Legend phones would be sporting the update very soon.

Google Releases Docs Viewer for iPhone, Android and iPad

Google has just announced the availability of Google Docs view on mobile browsers on Android, iPhone and iPad to allow you to view PDFs, .ppt, .doc and .docx files on Google Docs of that you’v received in Gmail.
The app lets you switch quickly between pages and pan/zoom within a page. On your iPhone and iPad, you can pinch to zoom in or out.

Google Chrome Browser Gets a Built-in Flash Player

Users of Google Chrome on Linux, Mac and Windows machines were automatically upgraded Thursday to a new browser version that addresses several security bugs and features a fully integrated Flash multimedia player for the first time. Google Vice President of Engineering Linus Upson believes browser users will benefit in several different ways from Chrome’s integration of Adobe Systems’ Flash technology for the web.

Google remotely wipes apps off Android phones

Google has remotely removed two free apps from several hundred Android phones because the apps misrepresented their purpose and thus violated Android developer policies, according to a company spokesman.
This marks the first time Google has used the Remote Application Removal Feature that allows the company to delete apps for security reasons that have been installed through Android Market.

Google Maps UK Now Features Property Search Service

Google UK is attempting to turn a profit from the property market by adding “property search” functionality to Google Maps. The new service includes tools from a range of partners including Countrywide and Trinity Mirror.
The property finder service allows home buyers and renters to search properties by city, or location, and make this search more specific by examining price, type and numbers of bedrooms. Google patching up Chrome

Google has patched 11 security holes in Chrome as Apple released Safari 5, the latest version of its WebKit rival.
The patch for Chrome 5.0.375.70 on Linux, Mac and Windows is the first fix for Google’s browser since the stable versions of the Mac and Linux editions were announced.
The update followed Monday’s Safari 5 from Apple that patched a record 48 vulnerabilities, most of them on WebKit – also used in Chrome. It’s the first major update to Apple’s browser in a year.

Google’s homepage customization

Google has yet again made improvements to their website; from today, you will be seeing Google’s search page background image changing and rotating through a list of stock photography.
The move comes after Google announced last week you could add custom backgrounds to your Google home page, using snaps from your hard drive, or Picasa web album. Just hit up the ‘change background image’ button in the bottom lefthand corner, after signing in with your Google account.
